Mark Kenderdine-Davies is the Chief Legal Officer of British International Investment plc, (formerly CDC Group plc), the UK government's development finance institution and impact investor. BII is the world’s oldest development finance institution with a mission to help solve the biggest global development challenges by investing patient, flexible capital to support private sector growth and innovation in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. It currently partners with over 1,500 businesses in emerging economies with total assets of £8.2 billion. Mark also chairs the Legal and Regulatory Council of the Global Private Capital Association (having previously served as a non-executive director), co-chairs the Legal and Regulatory Committee of the African Private Capital Association and is a member of the UK regional board of the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers. Prior roles include General Counsel, Company Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer at CDC Group plc and Legal Counsel at Gartmore Investment Management plc and Threadneedle Investments Limited respectively. Between 1994 and 2002, Mark lived in Vietnam where he worked, amongst other roles, as General Counsel/Senior Investment Executive at Indochina Asset Management Limited, focused on investments in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Yunnan Province of China. Mark practiced law as a partner in a London law firm before heading to Asia. Mark has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Liverpool, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
