Krishna, a technocrat from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, currently is MD and CEO of AFRINEX, an international stock exchange in Mauritius established as part of Prime Minister of Mauritius’ vision and supported by Government of India with BSE Technologies Pvt. Ltd. as technology and skill partner. Launched on 25th October, 2021, AFRINEX is the largest stock exchange in Mauritius by market capitalisation of listed securities as of August 2023. Krishna joined BSE in 2016 with the responsibility to setup India International Exchange (India INX) and India International Clearing Corporation (India ICC) at GIFT IFSC. At India INX she led Listing, Strategy and International Relations. She set up the Exchange and CCP at GIFT IFSC in less than 5 months, pursued advocacy with an innovative policy approach for GIFT City, set up primary market for debt, demonstrated thought leadership with changes in laws, introduced INRUSD contract, conceptualised India ICC’s tie up with International Central Securities Depository (Clearstream) securing regulatory approval for the first time in India, market development with international banks and supranational institutions to encourage them to coin long term strategy to participate in GIFT IFSC, strategic partnership and fund raising for India INX and India ICC, establishment of fund and equity ecosystem at GIFT IFSC, green platform of India INX which Luxembourg Exchange has partnered with because of its value proposition, facilitated international initiatives of BSE like AFRINEX, etc. Krishna was Director at CRISIL Risk Solutions from 2014 to 2016 conceptualising new product development and its technology and operational implementation, augmenting revenue streams with new offerings like consulting, thought leadership in areas of technology and risk models for both Banks and non-banking financial institutions. All leading public and private sector banks in India implemented Early Warning System that was conceptualised under her leadership. As a management consultant with Kearney, Krishna advised CXOs across industries internationally viz. Banks, NBFCs, telecom, organised retail, international submarine cables, strategic due diligences in Mergers & Acquisitions, e-commerce, etc. Krishna started her career in General Electric’s Analytics Centre of Excellence and worked across businesses viz. GE Insurance, GE Aircraft Engines (Engine Services), GE Commercial Finance and GE Consumer Finance followed by HSBC’s Global Analytics Centre. GE patented the Aircraft Engines (Engine Services) long term models developed by Krishna and her team. Krishna is considered amongst experts in the fields of fintech, market microstructure, corporate governance, finance, regulatory policies and new concept design. Throughout her career she has delivered results in new and unchartered areas handling micro and macro challenges to deliver on objectives. Krishna also takes keen interest in Indian classical music and is a Sangeet Prabhakar. She has been co-author of multiple research papers with professors from international universities.
