  • Chief Representative of the Export-Import Bank of China’s Eastern and Southern Africa Representative Office

After his post-graduation, Dr. Wu worked at the Educational Department of the former Chinese Ministry of Machinery and Electronics Industries, where he later industriously worked in various departments for different management positions for ten years and was promoted to be a division director. In 2003, he was conferred the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Development Economics from Darwin College. Dr. Wu joined the Export-Import Bank of China as Deputy General Manager in November 2006 and since then he worked in the International Business Department, Concessional Loans Departments and Transport Finance Department. Between 2012 and 2022, Dr. Wu held several positions at China Exim Bank namely Vice President and Secretary of the Hunan branch in Changsha, Hunan Province; President and Party Secretary of the Henan branch in Zhengzhou, Henan Province; and was called back to Beijing to work as Party Disciplinary Inspector at the Bank. Dr. Wu was also called to launch the China Latin-American Cooperation Fund, a USD 10 billion fund focusing on hydro or new energy and power grid infrastructure projects in Latin America. He was promoted to be the first CEO of the China-LAC Fund. Dr. Wu currently serves as the Chief Representative Officer of the representative office for Southern and Eastern Africa of the Exim Bank of China. His office covers over 28 countries in the Southern and Eastern African region.
